A HAUNTED house that raised thousands of pounds for charity will sadly keep its doors closed after the coronavirus pandemic.

The seemingly normal terraced home on Salop Road in Wrexham is a house like any other during the year – but on Halloween night spooky surprises galore are in store.

Since 2012016, the house has turned into a haunted house welcoming hundreds of people to get frightened – all for a good cause though!

In a social media post, a spokesman for the family-run attraction said: “Sadly that’s all folks! We as a family have decided that we can no longer continue with the Halloween house event again.

“It has been an amazing experience, one that we will never forget and are extremely proud of. It was our honour and privilege to entertain and scare our local community for years.

“Last year was amazing and we want to go out with a bang.

“We hope that in years to come children and adults will smile fondly and remember that our house during October turned into the Halloween House and all were welcomed and scared in equal measures.

“Who could believe that 2 terrace houses in Hightown could turn into a Halloween event that thousands of people attended? It is truly amazing and humbling.”

In the last four years, the family raised an amazing total of £8,500 for Nightingale House Hospice.

The haunted house has been run by Paula and Dave Pritchard who have been decorating their home with Halloween decorations for as long as they can remember.

What started out as a few pumpkins and decorations in the front garden gradually built up over the past decade to a full-scale haunted house trail.

Earlier this year, the Leader reported that their regular haunted house attraction would not be going ahead this year in the interest of public health due to the inability to maintain social distancing and gatherings.
