Bethan embarks on an epic 55-mile challenge for Nightingale House

“Some good must come out of the loss of an amazing man”.

These are the words of dedicated Nightingale House Hospice supporter Bethan Scott who is embarking on an epic challenge in memory of her husband Dave.

Bethan, along with some of her friends and family, will be walking the distance of more than two marathons in just two days in Dave’s memory.

This year, Dave’s Anniversary Walk will mark seven years since he passed.

Bethan and her supporters are walking all the way from Llandudno to Nightingale House Hospice in Wrexham on Saturday and Sunday – an incredible total distance of 55 miles.

Bethan said: “I’m incredibly touched once again that so many friends are supporting and joining us on our anniversary walk in memory of my husband Dave.

“This year’s walk will be the most challenging but having company along the way will no doubt help us to get to the finish line at the hospice on Sunday.

“Fundraising for Nightingale House Hospice is incredibly important to me, I know first-hand how much the hospice relies on donations.

“The truth is that fundraising, donations and income from the shops and cafes keep the hospice open.

“My friends have supported fundraising in Dave’s memory for seven years now and I’m so grateful to every single person who has supported my mission to raise awareness for the incredible work that they do.

“Believe me when I say that every single penny makes a difference.”

Since his death in 2017, Bethan has raised well over £150,000 in Dave’s memory.

She added: “I always say life can change in an instant. Some good must come out of the loss of an amazing man.

“I believe we met for a reason and now I can help a cause that helped Dave.”

Dave’s friend and former business associate, Jason Brogden, who lives in London, said: “It’s been so lovely to follow Bethan’s fundraising for the hospice, and the feeds on social media trigger so many happy memories. Dave is often mentioned over a pint and is sorely missed.

“Supporting the hospice reminds us of how amazingly Dave was looked after and how important it was for both him and Bethan.”
