Reaching a fundraising milestone, The Sun Trevor has raised over £30,000 through their weekly pub quiz in aid of Nightingale House Hospice, and celebrated with Dennis Taylor, former World Snooker Champion presenting the team with a cheque on Wednesday evening.

Owners of the Sun Trevor, Paul and Katy Jones alongside Quiz Master Maggie Smith have dedicated their time to run a series of quizzes over the past 10 years, where the local community have come together to support their efforts for local causes and raise a phenomenal amount of money.

Quiz Master, Maggie Smith said: “Quite simply, I enjoy writing and running the quiz.

“The teams enjoy playing each week and keep coming back for more and are very generous.

“Paul, Katy and myself would like to thank all our quiz players who have supported us for many years, even for 52 weeks on zoom during the lock down!

“I chose to support Nightingale House after my sister-in-law, Sandra, was cared for so beautifully ten years ago.”

Earlier this year, Paul, Katy, and Maggie travelled to the House of Commons, where they received the Community Fundraising Hero Award for Wales at the PubAid Community Pub Hero Awards 2024, recognising their fundraising efforts. They host a quiz every Wednesday at 8pm in Llangollen.

Mike Jones, Community Fundraiser at Nightingale House Hospice said: “It means so much to the hospice to have supporters like Paul, Katy, Maggie and the customers of The Sun Trevor who have raised an incredible amount of money which helps us provide much-needed services for people living with life-limiting illnesses in the community like hydrotherapy sessions.

“Without the support of kind people and businesses taking the time to fundraise for our charity we wouldn’t be able to provide the support we do.

“We want to say a huge thank you to the whole team at The Sun Trevor for your had work and support by hosting your infamous pub quiz and to the community helping you raise £30,000!
