Friends to “march on for Foxy” and fundraise for Nightingale House Hospice
A 90 mile walk from Leeds to Wrexham in memory of a dear friend will help raise funds for patient care at Nightingale House Hospice.
Friends of Gavin Fox, who suffered with motor neurone disease and passed away at the hospice last July, plan to do the trek in May and hope to raise £5000.
The walk has been organised by Gavin`s best friend Chris Henderson who will be joined by Martin Moran, Ian Dorman, Nick Patel, Jason Perry, Danny Hughes, Simon Martin, Nicky Jones and Michael Hughes
Chris said: “Last year we lost our best friend Gavin to motor neurone disease.
“He was a massive Leeds fan so we thought of no better place to start our challenge than at their home ground, Elland Road.
“We wanted to raise money for the hospice as a thank you for the excellent care they gave Gav and show how grateful we are for everything they did for him during his illness”
They aim to do the walk over four days – Elland road to Diggle (24 miles), Diggle to the outskirts of Altrincham (22 miles), Altrincham to Mickle Trafford (26.2 miles) and from Mickle Trafford to the hospice (14 miles).
They will start on Thursday 20 May and finish on Sunday 23 May.
Hospice Challenge Events Coordinator Bethan Scott said: “We are truly humbled by the incredible challenge that Chris and friends are taking on for the hospice in memory of their friend Gavin.
“Chris who is Gavin’s best friend told me that on one of the days they will cover a full marathon distance as they trek on the outskirts of Mickle Trafford.
“The friends will then put their boots back on and continue on their march for Gavin all the way to Nightingale House. Thank you so much gentlemen, we look forward to following you every step of the way.”
