Nightingale House looking for intrepid fundraisers for its most “daring overseas adventure yet”
Nightingale House Hospice is looking for intrepid fundraisers to take part in its more “daring overseas adventure yet”.
Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa’s highest mountain, will be the next destination for hospice fund raisers and those interested in taking part can find out more at a forthcoming information evening.
The challenging and popular trek will follow the Machame route, which approaches Kilimanjaro from the south, a tough but spectacularly rewarding route.
The Kilimanjaro Challenge will be the hospice’s fourth overseas fund raiser and follows on from the successful Great Wall of China Trek and Cycle challenge from Vietnam to Cambodia.
Fundraisers will set off on their journey in October 2021 – with those interested in finding out more about the adventure invited to an information evening at 6pm on Thursday 27th February at the Wrexham Hospice’s Caffi Cwtch on Chester Road, Wrexham.
The trip costs will be outlined at the event and will include all return flights from Manchester, all accommodation, camping equipment (tents are included – participants need to bring their own sleeping bag), Kilimanjaro National Park fees, all meals whilst trekking and from arrival to departure together with local porters and cooks for the trek.
Bethan Scott, challenge co-ordinator said: “This is a great opportunity to see a beautiful part of the world while doing something amazing for others too. For anyone who enjoys walking up mountains, this will be an incredible experience.”
Hospice in Memory Giving Fundraiser, Delyth Underwood added: “The Kilimanjaro trek will be our most daring overseas fundraising adventure yet, and we can’t wait to start preparing for it.
“Lots of people have very personal reasons for doing such a challenge while raising money for a good cause.”
